Bird Flies High are a downtempo, trip-hop band from Queensland, Australia, comprising of Bird (Vocals/ Lyricist/ Keys/ Flute) and Peaky (Saxophone / Beats / Production). Bird Flies High sways between elements of funk, jazz, blues, classical and cinematic with a creative blend of live instrumentation accompanied by a mixture of drum n bass, downtempo, trip-hop inspired beats.

The melodies and (sometimes brazen) lyrics, interlace perfectly with Bird’s earthy & alluring vocals. With a classical upbringing she adds a “cinematic” flavour, bestowing powerful yet mesmerising piano, strings and flute arrangements to the mix. With an extensive background in Funk, Rock, Jazz n blues, Peaky delivers an organic edginess with dark and raunchy baritone bass riffs and smooth, provocative solos casting midnight smokiness to their compositions.

When united, this unorthodox combination creates an harmonious and authentic sound which sets them apart from the norm.
